The Gilat SkyEdge II IP is an enterprise-grade, field-proven satellite broadband router built on Gilat’s advanced DVB-S2 ACM platform. Engineered for maximum performance and efficiency, the SkyEdge II IP operates as a full-featured IP router, not just a modem. It integrates DHCP, NAT/PAT, DNS caching, IGMPv2 multicast, SIP awareness, DiffServ QoS, and dual-stack IPv4/IPv6 support in a compact desktop form factor. Its dual-synthesizer return channel and adaptive coding and modulation (ACM) ensure link stability even in rain fade and challenging link conditions.
With a forward channel up to 45 Msps and return channel up to 4 Msps, the IDU supports carrier-grade voice and data. Built-in TCP acceleration, HTTP acceleration, payload compression and web caching dramatically improves user experience over satellite latency. All traffic is protected by AES 256-bit link-layer encryption, making it ideal for secure enterprise and government deployments.
The unit is fully compatible with Gilat SkyEdge II hubs and is also used as the Cisco NM-1VSAT-GILAT compatible module, allowing direct integration into Cisco routers for hybrid MPLS / satellite WAN architectures.
